8 lessons to live by

Hello Readers!
Sadly this is my last blog, hopefully not forever.
Today I will be writing 8 lessons to live by from a graduating 8 grader. Hope you enjoy!

1)Don't stress
The more you think the more you stress, take a break and relax.

2)Be organized
If your not the tidiest person in the world, start working on it, it's a great skill to have.

3)Go outside every once in a while
It's nice to take a break and get some fresh air instead of studying until you die.

4)Listen to music
Music is the one thing that should calm you down while studying, no matter what genre you listen to.

5)Go with your gut
Although you aren't 100% sure, go with what your gut says, it's almost always correct.

6)Spend some alone time
You don't always need to be with friends, spend some time by yourself, treat yourself.

7)Be free
Don't let others hold you back, go forth with what you believe.

8)Failure is good
While you might fail sometimes, the ones that fail but keep on trying are the successful ones.

The Erne from the Coast

Hello Readers!
Today I am writing about a short story called "The Erne from the Coast" by T. O. Beachcroft.

“The Erne from the Coast” by T. O. Beachcroft

This story is about Harry, a thirteen-year-old Scottish boy in Scotland. Michael, one of the best shepherds in town, decides to leave to see his brother for a while so Mr. Thurburn, Harry’s dad, puts Harry in charge of the sheep. One night an erne takes one of the sheep from the herd when Harry goes to tell his father the story his father doesn’t believe him one bit. Harry is later determined to prove to his father that he isn’t lying and sets out to kill the bird but when Harry and the bird finally meet the erne kills Tassie, Harry’s dog, but Harry gets revenge, proving to his father that he is telling the truth.

Harry is transformed in more than one way by the end of the story. While Harry is thought to be lying about the Erne taking one of the sheep, he decides to show that he isn’t lying. Harry is determined to prove that he is telling the truth. Harry is emotionally affected when his father doesn’t believe his word. Harry is determined to show that he isn't lying and is telling the truth. In the end, Harry decides to prove himself and not let one person who doubts him, stop him from telling the truth. A decision in the past that has changed who I am today would be joining a club soccer team. While this might not seem that important, to me it truly is. In this experience, even my parents didn’t think I was going to be able to make the team, but I did. In this experience, I got to show my perseverance and thirst to be on the team. It has transformed me in one major way. One should never give up or lose hope even if your closest friends or family don’t believe in you.

Innovation that transformed the world

Hello Readers!
Today I will be writing about what innovation has transformed the world the most.

In my eyes, I see electricity as the most important innovation that has transformed the world. I believe this for many reasons. Electricity has helped us humans in so many ways. Without electricity we wouldn't have the internet, that would be the biggest problem, especially for this century. If electricity wasn't invented, I don't know where humans would be. That is why I chose electricity as the most important innovation that has changed the world.

Night - Relationship

Hey Readers!
Today I will be writing about my relationship with my parents, what we share, our differences, and more.

My parents and I are relatively close to each other. While we do share many traits, we also have many differences.  As my mom always says, my father and I share the same attitude, sometimes short tempered and impatient, but also kind and caring. As for my mom, she is way calmer and patient compared to my father and I. Although my mother's personality might not be the same as mine, we do share the same mindset. Usually thinking about others that we care about before ourselves. Although my dad and I are close, we don't always see eye to eye. Like all parents and children, we'll occasionally fight. Whether the grudge will last for a day or one whole week, we eventually get over it. As for my dad, while he is more of an outgoing person, I am shyer. My father will usually make friends quite quickly, but for me, that's not the case. But as for my mother, she's more sympathetic. I am lucky to say that I got that trait from my mom. While my dad and I don't always see eye to eye, we do have the same personality. Sometimes we are like to positive magnets not wanting to connect. My mother and I don't have the same character whatsoever, but I am proud to say that I got a lot of her traits.

While being with my parents from birth. I have learned many things from them. My parents have taught me how to read and write, but most importantly, I have learned about how life will be as an adult. Having spent valuable time with them when I was younger, makes me realize that you shouldn't take life for granted. Whatever your job is in life, although it might pay well, first you should enjoy your job. I have learned that money can't buy happiness in life. It's your decisions that you make that can either ruin your life and make it even better. While one might feel as if they have learned plenty from their parents, you might learn something new if you realize what they do for you and also the people around you.

The Progressive Era

Hey Readers!
Today I will be talking about the three most pressing issues today compared to the issues back then. If you decide to read, you will find out why I have chose these three rather than other issues.

The most pressing issue that I believe is going on currently are African American rights. While we might think that we have stopped discrimination against others, we still discriminate people in our own daily lives. While it might seem like a small problem to some, the ones that are being discriminated against are almost always offended by our words. The second issue would probably be women's rights. What gives us the right to say men are better or smarter than women? This is just another form of discrimination. Women should have the same opportunities that men get. Last of all, factory workers rights. Factory workers barely get paid enough money to get past. Whats worse though is their working conditions. Each worker deserves the right to a clean working environment and also equal pay. The factory workers are hard workers and deserve more than they are getting currently. Those are my top three pressing issues today.

What I wish to transform in the world

Hello Readers,

As you can probably tell from the title, today I will be writing about what I wish to transform in the world. Enjoy!
Some might ask, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Well essentially choosing your future is almost the same as choosing what you wish to transform in the world. What you choose to be in your life is choosing what you wish to help to do in the world. What I would hope to do to transform the world would most likely be giving other children in developing countries the opportunity to education and the same necessities that we have here in the U.S. I want others to have the same opportunities to transform the world, the same opportunities that we are given here at Laguna. That is what I wish to do to transform the world.

"The New Kid" by Murray Heyert

Dear Marty,
I remember from long ago what we used to do to pass the time. We almost always used to play punchball, chalking up the pavement before each game. But what will always stay in my mind is the day the new kid came along. The new kid was different compared to us, but yet we did need him to play ball, so we let him join in. But he didn’t see us the same when he left, he saw us differently. After the new kid had crouched from the ball, afraid of it, we started giving him a hard time, teasing and bullying him. And what I remember doing was punching the poor kid, not giving him a chance, blow after blow. I lost it in that short time, not thinking. Finally, when I came to my senses and stopped, we let him go, but not before taking a step towards him and making him bolt. Those were the good old days.

I now remember why I did this nonsense, and looking back at it I now regret it. Sending the new kid in the neighborhood running home crying seemed fun at the moment, but now, not so much. I’m finally starting to remember why I did this violent act. All I wanted was to fit in with the crew, not wanting to be the kid who didn’t have any friends. So when my ‘friends’ called upon me to beat the new kid up, I didn’t hesitate. Why would a person ever punch a smaller kid for messing up in a game? Why, each day I ask myself this, regretting that act. If I had one wish, I would want to time travel back and act differently in this situation, to stand up for the poor kid.

Young Marty, I want to give you this piece of advice that you should give your son. But first, promise me to be a caring and loving father and to stop bullying if you ever see it. I want you to tell your son to stand up for what might not seem right at the moment, but to act upon his gut. Maybe if I had stood up for the new kid and not beaten him up, I wouldn’t be writing this letter. But the reality is that you might think something is right in your mind but actually, it isn’t. If you or your son is ever put in the same situation we were in, stand up for left out person and maybe you’ll end up having a good friendship. Just remember young Marty, don’t discriminate others and don’t judge a person by their looks.

Sincerely,
                Marty
